琉球焼
琉球焼きの由来
沖縄には海の彼方に神々の世界があり、そこから村々にさまざまな豊穣をもたらしてくれるというニライカナイの信仰があります。
すべての原郷を水平線の彼方に求める東方浄土の世界観です。
南海上に点在する島々で形成された琉球国は常に海と対座し海の彼方に眼を向けて生活を営んできました。
長い歴史を有する沖縄の陶器は壷屋焼に代表されます。
千六百八十二年琉球王朝時代に各地にあった窯が現在の壷屋町に統合されて以来、今日まで連綿とその伝統が受け継がれてきました。
沖縄のやきものは特に中国、朝鮮、大和（日本）、安南（ベトナム）の影響を受けて発達し、生活に必要な雑器が中心でした。
その地理的風土に根ざした独自の技法で陶器を形造ってきたのですが日本のやきものの歴史からみても沖縄の陶器はひときわ異彩を放っているといえます。
私もこの琉球の伝統に学び、又自身の個性を大切にこれからの創作に精進したいと思っています。

History of Ryukyu Pottery
In Okinawa,Niraikanai is name people call paradaise,whichi they believe to exist beyond or at the bottom of the ocean,The Ryukyu Kingdom(Okinawa) was composed of very small islands lying in the South Sea, and the people there lived every day face-to-face with the ocean.
They believe that a rich harvest,happiness,weaith and fame will be received from Niraikanai.
Okinawan pottery has been constantly influenced by the products and techniques of surrounding countries,China,Korea and mainland Japan, and formed its own unique shape and design. In1682, the government unified and relocated the major kilns to Tsuboya which had by then the largest kilns in Okinawa. Since then , the tradition of Okinawa pottery, Tsuboya Yaki, has been passed from generation to generation.
Okinawan pottery looks neither flashy nor very delicate yet its shaps and design represents the spontaneity and vividness of daily life, which outshines other Japanese potteries.
Okinawa is blessed with natural beauty and this established its own unique expression in the craft work of the people.I have been learning from the tradition of Okinawan pottery and I devote myself to this creative pursuit.
